EQUINE FLU VACCINATION- FURTHER IMPORTANT UPDATE 11.6.2026
Following the recent confirmed case in Devon, all horses and ponies attending the 2026 Launceston Show MUST now be vaccinated against Equine Influenza and meet the following requirements:
• The primary course comprises the 1st vaccination (V1)followed by the 2nd vaccination (V2) at 21 – 92 days later. The first booster(V3) is given after 150 – 215 days, and subsequent boosters are given within 12 months.
• For vaccination courses started from 2024, the V1-V2 interval is 21-60 days, and V3 is given at 120-180 days.
• In-foal mares that have already had vaccinations of the primary Equine Influenza course should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks before the foal is due to be born. Foals should be vaccinated for Equine Influenza at 6 months to commence their primary course.
• As part of good bio-security, we encourage everyone to remain vigilant by monitoring temperatures before travelling and not attending if any horse/pony has an elevated temperature or is showing signs of illness
